The first China-Gulf Arab States Cooperation Council Summit was held at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Center in Riyadh on December 9, local time. Chinese President Xi Jinping and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed, Emir Tamim of Qatar, King Hamad of Bahrain, Crown Prince Mishaal of Kuwait, Deputy Prime Minister Fahd of Oman, Sheikh Sharqi of Fujairah of the UAE, and GCC Secretary-General Nayef attended the summit.

Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech entitled "Building on the past, working together to create a better future for China Sea relations". Xi stressed that China highly appreciates the unity and self-improvement of the GCC countries, which has made the GCC the most dynamic regional organization in the Middle East and the Gulf.
